There are a few concepts going on here. I got the initial idea from seeing Van Gogh's painting of peasant boots. I did a more modern version. The other concept is, these are my brothers shoes. I inherited them from him when he passed away in 2002 from a fight with cancer. The other idea here was my best friend who was from London used to wear white socks every day with his dress shoes. Very Sherlock I thought. So what you have here is a still life with personality meaningful to me. A still life can have meaning. This is what I've learned. This is my third oil painting. I laid down the brush after 4 oil paintings because I developed a phobia. I don't really know why this happened. I hope to rectify this soon. But it's been a year now. So it's a puzzle I leave you with.
